SIMPLISTIC INTERIOR TRIANGLE SHELF
This simplistic interior shelf takes no time to put together. My friend Alexandra and I made four of these shelves in only 30 minutes. As long as you have the right tools, you will have new shelves hanging on your walls in no time!
Step One: Cutting Shelf Sides
Measure 1×4 pine boards and mark with a pencil at 18″. On one end of the measured board cut a 33-degree angle using a compound miter saw. After cutting the first end, flip the board, and cut a 33-degree angle in the opposite direction of the first cut. You should end up with open 33-degree angles on each end. Use your first board as a template to mark and cut the remaining boards.
Step Two: Piece Shelves Together
Fit pieces of wood together into the shape of a triangle to ensure all of the cuts are 100 percent accurate and the pieces fit well together! Starting with one corner, apply glue where the pieces of wood touch and press pieces together. Nail the corner together using 1.5” 18-gauge nails. Fill nail holes with wood filler. Repeat this step for the other 2 corners.
Step Three: Interior Self Completion
After applying glue, nails, and putty use sand paper to smoothen boards. Depending on the look you are going for you can chose to paint, stain, or polyurethane varnish the triangle.
Materials and Tools:
1×4 select pine, enough to cut into three 18″ boards
compound miter saw
wood glue
nail gun and 18-gauge 1.5″ nails
wood putty
sandpaper
These selves were inspired by a video I saw on HGTV.
